Last weekend there was a media frenzy claiming that President Obama had backed away from his support of a public option for health insurance reform.
But since then we’ve heard directly from the White House that President Obama “believes the public option is the best way to achieve” the goals of lowering cost, guaranteeing choice and ensuring affordable, quality options for all Americans when it comes to health care.
Nothing has changed. The President still supports a robust public option, and now is the time to show that we do too.
Organizing For America in California is at the forefront of this movement, working with organizers across the state to push this agenda, combat misinformation from the media and scurrilous opponents, and communicate the truth from the White House. This summer, we contacted every member of Congress in California and faced off with the some of health reform’s most vocal and hateful detractors – and emerged stronger than before. Today we are closer to getting health care for all Americans than we’ve ever been in the last 60 years. Chances like this are rare. We need to act now.
Help us spread the word. Please join the Organizing for America CA Facebook group so we can get 5,000 voices by Friday to let our legislators know that WE are the public option — and we need to see legislation that ensures health care for all Americans.
Here’s how to do it:
*Go to the Organizing for America California Facebook pagehttp://www.facebook.com/OFACalifornia
*Click on “Join Group”
*Select 10 or more friends and suggest the group to them!
It’s that easy, and everyone who joins will be better prepared to fight for meaningful health insurance reform that includes a public option. You don’t have to be a Californian to become a fan – so invite friends everywhere!
Once you’ve joined and invited your friends, take the next step in leadership and call your members of Congress, write a letter to the editor, post your opinion on your blog or leave a comment for the mainstream media. And don’t forget to Tweet it!
Thanks for all you do.
