Earlier today, Zev Yaroslavsky, Los Angeles County Supervisor, announced his retirement from public service at the end of his current term, as well as his intention to not seek the office of Los Angeles Mayor in 2013.
I thank Supervisor Yaroslavsky for all his years of service to Los Angeles. I am inspired by independent-minded people like him. His work on fiscal, heath care, transportation, and environmental matters has earned him the reputation as a public service for the people. He is known as someone who takes on the toughest issues. That’s what we need in our leaders today.
I hope to be a part of the “new generation of leaders” that Supervisor Yaroslavsky speaks about. By combining best practices from the old vanguard with new energy and innovation, we will “emerge and guide this region into the future.”
