“I lived in ten different places before I was ten years old. I know what it’s like to struggle and not have access to affordable housing in L.A.
Sadly, too many families are still facing those same hardships today and I know what they’re going through. And sadly, organizations like the Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing (SCANPH) and its affordable housing coalition, Housing for a Stronger Los Angeles, prefer not to include voices like mine in their mayoral candidate forum on affordable housing. It’s unfair to voters and it’s unfair to the families who benefit from their advocacy.
People deserve to know that there is a candidate that knows the hardships when it comes to housing, who has felt that uneasiness in his stomach when seeing the worrisome look on his mothers’ face. My mother tried her best to find a permanent place to live and provide that future she’d hope for my sister and me. We waited and waited for affordable housing, but it never came.”
