City Controller turned mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel, who is backed by SuperPAC Working Californians, released a new video and tv commercial titled “One Leader.”
The commercial confirms that the city of Los Angeles is on the brink of bankruptcy due the poor decisions made by City Hall, which includes fellow mayoral candidates Councilman Eric Garcetti and Councilwoman Jan Perry. Greuel herself was a Councilwoman at City Hall for seven years before becoming L.A.’s City Controller, a post she’s held for four years.
In her ad Greuel discusses the waste in city dollars she’s identified. She claims she will continue to be a “watchog” if elected mayor. One has to question if a career politician who has held office for almost eleven years and who is backed by special interest groups can make objective decisions that benefit L.A.’s residents.
The city’s $238 million deficit, which is projected to climb to $427 million by 2015, has been a hot topic issue during mayoral debates. When asked how she would address the increasing deficit, Controller Greuel failed to outline a plan but did mention looking at the city departments’ gas and phone expenses.
Emanuel Alberto Pleitez, candidate running for mayor, presented his plan to address the city’s deficit and pension crisis earlier in the week. The plan is available at http://bit.ly/EPpensions.
Los Angeles deserves a leader who will find innovative solutions to address a growing deficit, not one who was part of the decision-making process of said deficit.
