Kevin James TV Ad, Commercial — Outwit the Foxes, Portrays Angelenos as “Hens”

“Outwit the Foxes” highlights the poor decisions that City Hallers-turned-mayoral-candidates, Councilman Eric Garcetti, City Controller Wendy Greuel, and Councilwoman Jan Perry, have made over the ten plus years they’ve served the city. 

Along with the poor decisions that have L.A. sitting on the brink of bankruptcy with no clear solution from City Hall, James’ commercial touches on the special interest groups that support our current politicians, like Wendy Greuel’s SuperPAC, Working Californians. 

It is ironic that Kevin James condemns City Controller Greuel for having SuperPAC backing in a video that is paid for by his own SuperPAC, Better Way LA. More importantly, the video also never mentions what solutions James offers to L.A.’s problems. 

Now, Mr. James is correct in saying that Garcetti, Greuel, and Perry have been irresponsible in making decisions using numbers they did not understand. He is also correct in saying that as career politicians, with an average of ten years each in City Hall, they are incapable of making objective decisions. 

However, he is wrong about the people of Los Angeles. Angelenos are not “hens” sitting in a coup in need of protection. They are also not easy prey for whatever “foxes” roam around City Hall or anywhere else.

This city is full of creativity, diversity, and hard working men and women. It is insulting that Mr. James chooses to portray L.A.’s constituents as farm animals incapable of caring for themselves. 

Emanuel Alberto Pleitez is proof that Mr. James’ depiction of the Angeleno spirit is wildly off the mark. Emanuel decided to run for mayor because he was uninspired by the choices he had, as opposed to sitting back in a “coup” and letting the “foxes” bleed the city dry.
