Emanuel Alberto Pleitez, candidate running for mayor of Los Angeles, released his first television spot online. The tv ad is called “Hazte contar.” In it, Emanuel shares a portion of his story, his vision for LA, the fact that under our politicians’ poor leadership few ever move forward, and asks everyone to vote on March 5th as a way to have their voices heard.
The spot was shot, edited, and produced by a local, young entrepreneur who owns a production studio. Once he learned about Emanuel’s story and his policy, he decided to donate his time and resources. The spot was recorded and edited in one day. This is only one example of the power behind a community coming together for something greater than any one man or woman.
Emanuel’s grassroots campaign started in early 2012 with a core group of leaders who wanted to bring actual and tangible progress to the second largest city in the country. They worked wherever they could and slept wherever a couch was available. Now, Emanuel’s campaign has one of the largest, if not the largest, full-time staff of any campaign in the LA mayoral race, works out of two offices, and prides itself in the constant flow of volunteers and supporters from all around.
